Men's Basketball Travels to Ole Miss for Saturday Showdown

PHILADELPHIA - After a week off for final exams, Temple Men's Basketball heads to Oxford, Miss. to take on Ole Miss Saturday (5 pm ET/SEC Network/1210 AM WPHT). The Owls (6-5) are looking to rebound from a loss at Big 5 rival Penn in its last game, which snapped the team's four-game win streak. Ole Miss (7-3) is coming off a a 72-61 home loss to UCF on Wednesday.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Khalif Battle has been hot of late, averaging 22.7 points per game while shooting 25-55 (45.5%) from behind the arc during the last six games as a starter. He leads the team and ranks second in the American Athletic Conference in scoring (19.4 ppg/T33rd NCAA) and has scored 20 points in seven games including four of the last six. He leads the AAC in threes with 35 (3.2 pg), ranking 26th nationally, while shooting 36.8 percent.
> Damian Dunn ranks second on the team in scoring (15.0 ppg), assists (2.7), field goal percentage (.446) and first in minutes per game (34.4).  He tallied a career-high 38 points in the Owls' 89-87 overtime loss to Vanderbilt. That is the most points by a TU player since 2004.  He leads the Owls (tied 23rd in NCAA) in free throws made (50).
> Zach Hicks (9.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg) and Hysier Miller (7.8 ppg., 4.3 apg/4th AAC) round out the starting five. Jahlil White (3.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg), who started the first five games before being sidelined due to injury, is a defensive stopper off the bench. 
> Nick Jourdain (4.1 ppg, 3.6 rpg), who leads the team in blocks (13). He has made his last 13 of his last 17 field goals and is shooting 60 percent (18-30 FG).
> Kur Jongkuch (09. ppg, 2.4 rpg), who has backed up Jamille Reynolds, will likely see more time with the injury to the Owls' big man. 

SCOUTING OLE MISS
> Ole Miss is off to a 7-3 start, but two of the Rebels losses have come at the hands of American Athletic Conference foes.   Memphis defeated Ole Miss, 68-57, on Dec. 3 in its only true road game of the season while UCF posted a 72-61 road win in the team's last game.
> Junior guard Matthew Murrell leads a balanced scoring attack, averaging 15.0 points and topping the team in assists (2.8 apg.).
> Freshman guard Amaree Abram is the other Rebel averaging double figures (10.1 ppg) while also topping the team in three-point shooting (12-27, .444).
> Junior forward Jaemyn Brakefield (8.2 ppg, 4.9 rpg.) and senior forward Myles Burns (7.1 ppg, 5.7 rpg,) have started all 10 games for Ole Miss, with Burns ranking among the nation's leaders in steals per game (2.7 spg.).
> The Rebels have plenty of depth with 10 Ole Miss players averaging more than 10 minutes per game. 

SERIES HISTORY 
> Temple and Ole Miss have met four times in their history with the Owls owing a 3-1 edge in the series.
> The teams have played on each other's home courts once with Temple winning the last meeting, 68-52, at the Liacouras Center (then called The Forum at the Apollo of Temple) on Nov. 18, 1998.
> Ole Miss posted its only win in the series the year prior, an 87-74 decision on Nov. 27, 1997.

> Rasheed Brokenborough scored a game-high 21 points and Quincy Wadley added 14  to lead #7 Temple to a 68-52  home-opening win over Ole Miss.
> The Rebels scored the first nine points of the game before the Owls woke up and went on a 30-7 run to take control.
> Defense led the way as Temple forced nine Ole Miss turnovers in the run, and 20 for the game.
 > Temple would build a 36-20 halftime lead at the break but the Rebels responded after intermission, cutting the deficit to 47-42 with 8:24 to play.  
> The Owls, which had 14 steals as a team, turned up the head after that, and finished the contest on a 21-10 run.
