Khalif Battle Named AAC and Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - Redshirt sophomore guard Khalif Battle was named the American Athletic Conference and Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday, December 4.

Battle averaged an American Athletic Conference best 24.5 points per game in the Owls' 2-0 week. He shot 15-for-34 from the field (44.1%), 8-for-18 from three (44.4%) and 11-for-11 (100%) from the line.  Against La Salle (Nov. 30), he scored a game-high 22 points, including four-of-eight from three-point range.  He followed that a season-high 27 points in a win over VCU while also recording a career-high four steals.

The Edison, N.J. native leads the team in scoring (20.0 ppg) and also tops the conference and ranks second nationally in free throw percentage (.964, 27-28). He leads the AAC in threes with 31 (3.44 pg), ranking fourth nationally, while shooting 38.8 percent and 50 percent (19-38) as a starter.

Temple (5-4, 2-0 Big 5) hosts Saint Joseph's (3-4, 0-1) Tuesday at 7 pm (ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT).
