Women's Basketball Travels to Houston For Wednesday Matchup

PHILADELPHIA - After a tough loss to UCF, the Temple women's basketball team looks to get back on track against the Houston Cougars on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The game is scheduled for 8:00pm ET on ESPN+.
LAST GAME
> The Temple women's basketball team was handed a 30-plus point loss by the UCF Knights on Saturday afternoon. Temple struggled offensively, as they shot 23.1% from the field and 8.3% from behind the arc.
> The Owls were also plagued by turnovers, as Temple had 21 of them in the game.

> After a 37-point loss to UCF over the weekend, the Temple women's basketball team is coming off its worst game of the season coming into Wednesday's matchup against the Cougars.
> Temple has been getting quite a bit of production from freshmen recently as freshmen Aniya Gourdine, Tiarra East, and Kyra Wood have all started the past four games.
> Gourdine is in the midst of a spectacular freshman season as she has won the American Athletic Conference's Freshman of the Week award five times thus far.
> Forward Mia Davis will try to bounce back against the Cougars after scoring a season-low one point against UCF in the last game.

> The Houston Cougars have dropped two of its past three games coupled with a win over the East Carolina Pirates.
> The Cougars are led by guard Laila Blair and forward Tatyana Hill. Blair leads the team with 12.3 points per game and 2.6 assists per game while Hill leads the team in rebounds, blocks, and steals per game.
> Blair recorded a season-high in both field goals made (10) and field goal attempts (23) in Houston's last game, a loss to the Tulane Green Wave.

> Forward Mia Davis scored 20-plus points again for the Owls as the Temple women's basketball team picked up their second conference win over the Houston Cougars on Jan. 15, 2022.
