Balanced Attack Leads Men’s Basketball to 67-58 Win Over Tulsa

PHILADELPHIA – On a day when the University honored two of its NCAA Elite Eight teams, Nick Jourdain posted his first career double-double and Jahlil White dished a career-high nine assists in leading Temple to a 67-58 win over Tulsa Saturday at the Liacouras Center.
Jourdain led four double-figure Temple scorers with 15 points while grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds and two blocks. White tallied just nine points, but also pulled down six boards and committed just one turnover in filling up the stat sheet. Temple improves to 13-7 overall and 6-3 in the American Athletic Conference while Tulsa falls to 7-14, 1-9.

First Half
> Temple trailed for only the first two minutes and change before using a 12-2 run to open a 13-6 on a dunk by Arashma Parks with just under 12 minutes on the clock.
> Tulsa used a 9-2 run to tie the game at 15 with 8:20 on the clock, but an 11-2 Owl run over the final five minutes gave the Cherry and White a commanding 32-21 lead at the half.
> Temple only committed one turnover in the first half but struggled from behind the arc, hitting just 3-of-14 from three-point range (21.4%).
> The Owls' defense forced eight turnovers and held the Golden Hurricane to 1-of-9 from distance (11.1%).
Second Half
> The teams traded baskets to start the second half before Tulsa used a 15-4 run to tie the game at 40 with 10:15 remaining.
> The Golden Hurricane took their first lead since early in the first half on a layup by Rey Idowu, 47-46, with 7:13 to play. It was the last field goal by Idowu, who was a perfect 8-of-8 from the field for a game-high 21 points.
> Tulsa would extend its lead to 49-46 on a Sam Griffin basket, but Temple answered with a 13-3 run, capped by a Jourdain fastbreak slam to make it 59-52 with two minutes to play.
> Temple then made eight straight free throws to hold off a Tulsa comeback.
