Women's Basketball Set For Wednesday Rematch Against South Florida

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple women's basketball team enters Wednesday night's game against South Florida looking to avenge the overtime loss that they suffered earlier in the season against the Bulls. The game is scheduled for 7:00pm and will air on ESPN+.

Wednesday night's game will be Temple women's basketball's Breast Cancer Awareness game as well as "Down The Shore" night. Students will have a chance to win Apple Airpods, a mini portable projector, a Roku stream bar, and a 32" Smart TV throughout the game.

LAST GAME
> The Temple women's basketball team won their second consecutive conference game against the ECU Pirates on Sunday afternoon.
> With Temple up by double digits at the end of the third quarter, ECU attempted to make a comeback with a 13-3 run to begin the final period, but the Pirates fell short, as they missed a critical free throw in the final seconds of the game.
> Aniya Gourdine, who recorded the first triple-double in program history, Mia Davis, and Kyra Wood led the Owls in their victory, as they combined for 51 of the team's 60 points.
> Davis: team-high 22 points
> Wood: 16 points and eight rebounds
> Gourdine: 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists

THE OWLS
> The Owls come into Wednesday's game having won back-to-back games against Wichita State and East Carolina.Ā 
> Davis continues to have a spectacular final season for Temple as she leads the team in points per game (19.1) and rebounds per game (7.3). For her efforts this past week, Davis was named to the weekly AAC Honor Roll, the seventh time she has done so this season.
> Gourdine recorded the first triple-double in program history in Temple's last game. Gourdine racked up 13 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists. The triple-double was only the sixth in AAC history and the first by a freshman.
> Wood filled in for the injured Alexa Williamson aaginst the Pirates and did not disappoint in her first start. Wood scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds.

SCOUTING SOUTH FLORIDA
> The Bulls enter Wednesday night's matchup ranked second in the AAC after a loss this past weekend to the Tulane Green Wave.
> South Florida is led by sophomore guard Elena Tsineke who leads the team with 14.9 points per game.Ā 
> Forwards Dulcy Fankam Mendjiadeu and Bethy Mununga lead the front court for USF as the two combine for over 20 points per game.

LAST TIME THEY MET
> The last time that these two sides met was earlier this season when the Temple women's basketball team dropped a tightly-contested overtime contest to the South Florida Bulls, 75-67.Ā 
> Trailing by two points with 26 seconds remaining in regulation, Davis converted on a layup to send the game in overtime.Ā 
> However, despite the 44 combined points from Davis and Alexa Williamson, the Owls failed to capitalize in the overtime period, as a 10-3 run virtually sealed the game for the Bulls.
> Davis: game-high 26 points and six rebounds.
> Williamson: 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds.
> Gourdine: 12 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds on a season-high 44 minutes.

> Temple ventures back on the road this weekend then the Owls travel to Tulsa to take on the Golden Hurricane on Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 CT.
