Gymnastics Finishes Third at 2022 EAGL Championships

10 Gymnasts Earn ALL-EAGL Tournament Team Honors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Temple University gymnastics tied the fourth-highest score (196.025) in team history and first place after Saturday's first session of the 2022 EAGL Championships, but as the talc settled, they came in third-place finish behind George Washington University (196.325), and Towson (196.075).
"The team did an awesome job today. To get the fourth-highest score in school history and getting a podium finish after being the seventh seed going in is incredible." said head coach Josh Nilson. " I asked them to give everything they had, and they did! As a coach couldn't have asked more from them."
HOW IT HAPPENED
> The Cherry and White led throughout the four rotations on Saturday's early session as they scored 196.025, the second-best score of 2022 and just behind its school record of 196.675 that was set on Feb. 25 at NC State.
> The Owls combined for 12 9.8's or better on the day, only behind the Feb. 25 meet at NC State when they scored 16.
> At the end of the evening, sophomore Brooke Donabedian and senior Julianna Roland came away second-place finishes overall on the floor and vault, respectively.
> Donabedian came close to tying the school record once again on the floor when she tallied a 9.925, just .025 away from the school record score of 9.950 she tied earlier in the season.
BARS
> Temple came out after rotation one when they put together its fourth-best score of the season, 48.975.
> Freshman Sarah Stallings led the way for Owls on the bars as she scored a 9.850, her sixth 9.800 or better score this season.
> Senior Ariana Castrence anchored the squad with a 9.800, also the sixth time this season she marked a 9.800 or better.
> Freshman Hannah Stallings, senior Caitlin Gray, Donabedian rounded out the Cherry and White scores with 9.775's.
BEAM
> The Owls scored a 48.975 for the second time in as many rotations, continuing to hold off the other three teams, while totaling a 97.950 after two rotations.
> Senior Ariana Castrence led the beam team with a 9.875. The Waldorf, Md. native has now scored a 9.800 or better in nine of the 11 meets she's competed in this season.
> Of the six TU gymnasts, the final four, including Donabedian, Hannah Stallings, Castrence, and Roland all secured 9.800's or better in their routines.
> Donabedian received her fifth (9.825), Stallings her eighth in 12 meets (9.800), and Roland anchored the team with her sixth (9.800) 9.800 or better this season.
VAULT
> Julianna Roland led the Owls to a 48.775 in the final rotation when she scored a 9.850, the eighth time this season she's scored a 9.800 or better on the vault this year.
> In only her third meet of the season competing on the apparatus, senior Tori Edwards earned a season-high 9.775.
> Freshman Anna Hill scored a 9.750, the fifth time this season she's tallied a 9.775 or better mark.
> It was the second consecutive meet Hannah Stallings would score a 9.725, the eighth time in 13 meets she's achieved that result.
