PHILADELPHIA – On Sunday afternoon, the Temple women's gymnastics team finished their tri-meet versus West Chester and the University of New Hampshire in record-setting fashion as they broke the team record on beam with a 49.325, tied the school record on the floor with a 49.375. HOW IT HAPPENED
> The 49.325 score that the beam team put together, broke a record that was just set two weeks ago at No. 29 NC State when they scored 49.300.
> The Owls also tied the floor record that was set earlier this year on Feb. 4 at Towson.
> Donabedian finished first on the beam as she tied a 22-year old record from Anne Koerner (2000) with a 9.95.
> Senior Ariana Castrence won the all-around title with the exact score, 39.275, she had three days ago in a quad meet with Bridgeport, SCSU, and Maryland. It's the second time this season, and the third time in her career, she's tied the third-best score in school history. Castrence's all-around total score was aided by a career-best on the beam with a 9.925, finishing for a tie for first place.
> The Cherry and White won team event titles on the vault, beam, and floor.
> UNH's Kylie Gorgenyi won the individual event titles on the vault and bars with matching 9.850's.
VAULT
> All six out gymnasts scored 9.700 or above in the first rotation, while as a team, they scored 48.825.
> Castrence led the Owls with a 9.800, finishing in third-place overall, marking the fifth consecutive meet she's was able to reach that mark.
> Sisters Hannah Stallings and Sarah Stallings would tie fourth overall with 9.775's.
> Senior Julianna Roland achieved a 9.750, the sixth straight meet she's tallied at least a 9.750.
> Mackenzie Aresta (9.725) and Anna Hill (9.700) rounded out the Temple team.
BARS
> TU scored a 47.625 on the bars rotation two to fall behind its two opponents.
> Castrence led the Temple with a 9.775, while Sarah Stallings added 9.750, and senior Caitlin Gray added a 9.725.
BEAM
> Castrence and Roland tied the season-high on the beam for the Owls with the first-place score of 9.925, helping set the team school record with a 49.325.
> In the leadoff position, Renee Schugman and Hannah Stallings were vital with a pair of 9.875's. For Schugman, the score is a new career-high, while Stallings tied her career-best from Feb. 12 at No. 26 UNC.
> Donabedian rounded out the strong performances for TU, with a 9.725.
FLOOR
> Temple made up a lot of ground in the fourth rotation, but it just wasn't quite enough.
> TU tied the school record on the floor with a 49.375, with the help of Donabedian's school tying record score of 9.95.
> Schugman led off as she tied a career-high 9.875, and Roland was next with a 9.850.
> Veterans Tori Edwards and Faith Leary went back-to-back and gave the Owls a fighting chance at the end with 9.8-plus scores. Edwards would add a 9.875 for the fourth of the season, and Leary added a 9.850, her sixth 9.850 or better this season.
