Track and Field Ready for Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA - After an impressive showing last weekend at the Virginia Challenge, the Temple track and field team enters the Penn Relays in hopes of repeating their success again at Franklin Field from April 28-30.
About the Penn Relays
Distance runner Laura Nicholson gets things started for the Owls as she competes in the 1,500m run at 6:15pm on Thursday. A little over on an hour later, Michelle Joyce takes part in the 5000m run at 7:50pm.
To wrap up the day, Erik Kain and Sean Egan compete in the men's 10,000m run at 10:00pm.
On Friday, the sprinters get their chance to make their mark as Temple competes in the 4x100m relay followed by the 4x200m relay between 1:00-3:00pm. Chelby Elam will then get her chance in the 100m dash at 2:55pm before the Owls go after the 4x400m relay and sprint medley titles later in the evening.
In the field events, Tannekee Strachan will look to improve upon her personal-best long jump from last week when she competes at noon. A few hours later, Nicole Castor will play her part in the meet when she participates in the high jump.
On the last day of the meet, Strachan gets set to attempt to break her own triple jump school record once again at 12:30pm.
Last Time Out
Sprinter Marissa White set a personal-best and took first-place in a talented field of the 400m dash as Strachan placed top-10 in the meet in the long jump with a leap of 5.90m, also a personal-best.
A few hours later, Nicholson kept up momentum as she took first-place in the 1,500m run with a personal-best time of 4:20.94.
To open up day two, Temple's "A" relay set a season-best time of 46.91 before Strachan set the school record in the triple jump once again, breaking her own record from earlier in the season at the Big 5 Meet when she leaped to a mark of 12.66m. This time, Strachan jumped to a mark of 12.98m, taking second place at the meet.
Wrapping up the meet, Temple raced to a season-best time of 3:47.11 to place in the top-10 in the 4x400m relay.
