Men’s Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule and AAC Pairings
7.14.22 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple Men's Basketball released its 2022-23 non-conference schedule with the Owls playing seven of their 13 games at the Liacouras Center, including a first-ever visit from Vanderbilt on Nov. 15.
Joining Vanderbilt on the team's home slate are Big 5 rivals Villanova (Nov. 11) and Saint Joseph's (Dec. 6), as well as Drexel (Nov. 27), VCU (Dec. 3), Maryland-Eastern Shore (Dec. 20) and Wagner, which serves as the season-opener on Nov. 7.
The road part of the Owls' non-conference schedule includes the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase against Rutgers (Nov. 18), the Empire Classic (Richmond, St. John's, Syracuse, Nov. 21-22), Big 5 foes La Salle (Nov. 30) and Penn (Dec. 10), and the program's first trip to Mississippi (Dec. 17) since 1997.
This is truly a challenging schedule which we believe will prepare our team for one of the toughest conferences in the nation, the American Athletic Conference," said Temple head coach Aaron McKie. "We are excited to add another SEC opponent with a trip to Ole' Miss and play former conference rivals Rutgers and VCU. Our fans will also be able to watch their Owls play in at the Barclays Center against a strong field that includes Richmond, St. John's and Syracuse."
The American Athletic Conference also announced the men's basketball league schedule pairings for the 2022-23 season.
Every team in The American will play eight of its 10 conference opponents twice and the other two opponents once – one at home and one on the road. In this format, Temple will only play Wichita State and SMU once with the Owls hosting the Shockers and traveling to the Mustangs.
Season tickets deposits can be made by calling the Temple Ticket Sales Office at 215-204-TIXX (8499).
The American Athletic Conference schedule is expected to be announced in September.
