Burkhardt Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Temple field hockey defensive back McKenna Burkhardt has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday. This is the first career honor for the senior.Â
The Bethlehem, Pa. native scored a pair of goals in the 5-2 win over Bucknell Sunday afternoon, putting her season total at three. She was also part of a defense that allowed just three goals in two games and successfully defended five of seven penalty corners.
Temple will open conference play Friday night at Howarth Field, hosting Quinnipiac at 5 p.m.
