Track & Field Returns to Competition at the Nittany Lion Challenge

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's track and field team will return to competition this Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge hosted by Penn State. The Owls have not run since competing at the Youree Spence-Garcia Meet six weeks ago. The meet will begin at 11 a.m. and run till about 5 p.m.
Previewing the Owls
> This meet will feature the season debut of the distance running group. Elvira Bredin, Molly Demarzo, and Cat Shontz will run in the 3000m. Dominyka Petraskaite will compete in the 1 mile run alongside Demarzo.
> Four Owls will be competing in the high jump in Fiona Carter, Nicole Castor, Jaaliyah Evans, and Amira Green. Three will taking part in the Long Jump, Carter, Allyson Metzger, and Tannekee Strachan.
> Carter is one of two Temple athletes competing in the 60m high hurdles alongside Itasu Shirek.
> The Cherry & White will be well represented in the 60m dash. Chelby Elam, Lauren Greig, Jewel Ofotan, and Madison Trout will be running in the event.
> Four Temple runners will be competing in the 200m, with Elam, Greig, Christal Pommells, and Trout in the event.
> In the final middle distance event of the day for Temple. Four Owls will compete in the 400m, Kwanda Knight, Chidumga Nkulume, Shirek, and Marissa White. Knight, Pommells, White, and Nkulume will also be running in the 4 x 400m relay.
> Strachan will be competing in the Triple Jump, and newcomer Allie Riches will be making her Cherry & White debut in the Pole Vault.
Last Time Out
> Temple had a very strong outing at the Youree Spence-Garcia Meet at St. John's. Four Owls set new personal bests.
> Green tied her indoor personal best with a mark of 1.65 meters in the long jump, winning the event.
> Metzger set a new indoor personal best in the long jump, placing second with a mark of 5.39m.
> White also PR'd in the 500m with a time of 1:13.95. She came in third.
> Elam earned a PR of 41.86 in the 300m.

> The Owls will return to the field of play next week with a trip to Staten Island for the Villanova Invitational.
