Knight Sets Personal Best as Track & Field Competes at Nittany Lion Challenge

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. – The Temple women's track and field team returned to play following a six week break in competition. This meet featured the season debut of the distance running portion of the roster.
 
Meet Highlights
 
Isatu Shirek earned a top 10 finish in the 60m hurdles, placing seventh overall in the first round with a time of 9.19 to earn a spot in the finals. She clocked a 9.13 in the finals to place eighth.
 
Freshman Madison Trout had an impressive start to her season. She placed 12th in a field of 47 athletes in the 60m dash with a time of 7.79. Trout also finished in the top 20 for the 200m (26.02).
 
Marissa White had a strong showing, placing fourth among 27 runners in the women's 400m with a time of 56.76. Her finish was the highest of any Temple athlete on the day. In the same event, Kwanda Knight set a personal indoor best with a time of 58.45.
 
In the 200 meter dash, Chelby Elam earned a top 15 finish running a 25.90.
 
The distance portion of the squad made its season debut with Elvira Bredin, and Catherine Shontz competing in the 3000m. Molly Demarzo competed in the mile with Dominyka Petraskaite.
 
The 4x400 relay team closed out the day. The Owls placed fifth with a lineup of Knight, Christal Pommells, Elam, and White. The four ran for a time of 3:54.71

The Owls return next week with a trip to Staten Island, N.Y. at the Villanova Invitational.
