Track & Field Heads to New York for Villanova Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's track and field team heads to New York City this weekend for the first of three straight trips to The Big Apple. The Cherry & White will compete in the Villanova Invitational this Saturday in Staten Island.
Last Time Out
> Temple returned to action following a six week hiatus.
> Isatu Shirek earned her way to the finals in the 60m hurdles following a top ten finish in the heats.
> Marissa White placed fourth overall in the 400m with a time of 56.76, her highest finish of the day.
> Finally, Kwanda Knight set a personal record in indoor in the 400m (58.45 secs).
Previewing the Owls
> Three Owls will be running in the 60m dash, Chelby Elam, Madison Trout, and Lauren Greig. Trout will be looking to build off an impressive debut last week at the Nittany Lion Challenge.
> Elam and Trout will also be competing in the 200m alongside White. Elam looks to keep momentum going after a top 15 finish in the 200 meter dash last weekend.
> Knight headlines the 400m group after setting a personal-best last weekend. She will be running alongside Christal Pommells and Chidumga Nkulume.
> In the 60-meter hurdles, Sophia Gulotti and Shirek will be representing the Cherry & White. Shirek earned her way to finals in the Nittany Lion Challenge.
> On the distance side, Elvira Bredin, Abigail Cole, and Catherine Shontz will be running in the 1 mile dash. Molly Demarzo and Laura Nicholson will compete in the 3000m run.
> Two squads will be running in the 4x400m. The first squad will consist of White, Knight, Elam, Pommells, and Nkulume. The second will feature Trout, Greig, Shirek, and Jewel Ofoton.
> Nicole Castor, Amira Green, and Jaaliyah Evans will be participating in the high jump. Newcomer Allie Riches will look to make her Temple debut in the pole vault, and Allyson Metzger and Gulotti will take part in the long jump.
