No. 11 Fencing to Host Day One of Philadelphia Invitational

PHILADELPHIA - The No. 11 Temple fencing team is set to return to the City of Brotherly Love, hosting day one of the Philadelphia Invitational Friday before heading across town to Penn on Sunday.
The Owls are 9-7 on the season, going 2-3 at the Penn State Invitational last weekend. Temple topped No. 3 Columbia 15-12 before dominating Haverford 26-1. Constança Dimas led the foilists with a 4-0 mark, while Anna Novoseltseva (foil) went 6-6 including a 3-0 record against the Lions. Saberist Eva Ventura's 7-4 mark led the squad, going 2-0 against Haverford and 3-0 against No. 6 Penn State. Naomi Ross's 7-5 record and Margherita Calderaro's 7-4 record led the epee squad, with Cindy Long going 4-3.
Novoseltseva leads the team with a 25-12 record on the season, while Ventura owns an 18-14 mark. Calderaro and Ross's respective 17-12 and 17-14 records lead the epee squad.
Action at the TU Pavilion will begin at 3 p.m., with the Owls to host four rounds of competition. The team will face No. 1 Princeton, No. 2 (DIII) John's Hopkins, and No. 14 UNC. On Sunday at the Tse Center, action will begin at 8:30 a.m. against host No. 8 Penn followed by No. 5 Ohio State, No. 3 Columbia, No. 12 Yale and No. 1 (DIII) NYU.Â
