Golf Sits Seventh After Day One of Ironwood Collegiate Classic

Greenville, N.C. – Temple Golf sits in the middle of the 14-team field at the Ironwood Collegiate Classic after the first two rounds Monday at the Ironwood Golf and Country Club.   Looking for their third straight Top 5 showing, the Owls shot an even-par 576 are seventh overall, a mere four shots behind fifth place Old Dominion (572) and trail the leader, Florida Atlantic by 22 strokes (554).   

Recapping the Day
> The Owls shot a one-under 287 in the morning round and sat in fifth place. Graham Chase and Ethan Whitney shot one-under 71s with Matthew Vital (72), making his first appearance in the Owls starting lineup, and Aidan Emmerich (73) right behind.
> The afternoon round saw team finish with a one-over 289 with Michael Walsh leading the squad with a two-under 70.   Chase and Whitney each finished with even par 72s while Vital and Emmerich shot three-over 75s.
> For the day, Chase and Whitney are tied for 16th with one-under 143s while Vital, tied for 39th, was next with a three-over 147.   Emmerich (148) and Walsh (149) rounded out the squad, tied for 45th and 55th, respectively.   

The Field
> Florida Atlantic leads fellow AAC member and tournament host East Carolina (555) by one stroke.  Radford (563) and Winthrop (568) round out the top four.
> East Carolina's Lucas Augustsson leads the field with a 14-under 130 with Florida Atlantic's Alex Maguire (134) four strokes back.

> Play concludes with a final round Tuesday with a shotgun start at 9 am.
