11.2.23 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Some familiar faces will be joining the Temple Men's Basketball broadcast team for the 2023-24 season as former star player and director of player development Jason Ivey will be coming on board as a color analyst for radio broadcasts while longtime radio color analyst and Owls Hall of Famer John Baum will join his former partner Harry Donahue as an analyst for six ESPN+ telecasts.
"After having the privilege of working alongside Temple Men's Basketball legend John Baum for the past two seasons, it is an honor to get to welcome another Temple great - Jason Ivey - to the radio booth," said Temple's Associate Athletics Director for Video Production and radio play-by-play voice Kevin Copp. "I know that Jason will provide terrific insight on our broadcasts from his perspective as a player and staff member, and he represents a link to the great history of this Temple program and the legendary Coach Chaney. I can't wait to work alongside Jason this season and for many years to come.
Also, having two of Temple's finest in Harry Donahue and John Baum reunited on our ESPN+ telecasts will be a great treat for Temple fans and fans of college basketball alike."
Ivey, who played in 126 games for the Owls from 1992-96, was the sixth man on the Temple's 1993 Elite Eight run as a freshman. A member of four NCAA Tournament teams, he started 40 games throughout his career and scored 624 points and grabbed 564 rebounds during his career.
Ivey played professionally in the United States Basketball League with the Philadelphia Power (1997) and then made stops in Australia and China before retiring in 1998. He returned to basketball in 1999 as a graduate assistant with the Owls, spending one season learning under Chaney. He also served seven seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Missouri-Kansas City as well as two years on the Hartford men's basketball staff as the director of basketball operations.
This season, Ivey will handle the duties of color analyst at all Temple home basketball games as well as some road contests.
Temple opens the season this Monday, Nov. 6 against UMES (7:30 pm/ESPN+/1210 AM WPHT at the Liacouras Center. The game is part of a doubleheader with the Temple women hosting Delaware State at 4 pm.
