11.9.23 | Men's Basketball
PHILADELPHIA – Temple University men's basketball head coach Adam Fisher announced the signings of Dillon Battie and Aiden Tobiason to National Letters of Intent.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Dillon Battie to the Temple Family," said Fisher. "Dillon's versatility, athleticism and motor will be a major asset to our program. Dillon has the ability to play inside and outside on both ends of the floor, which stood out to us right away in the recruiting process. We are happy to welcome Dillon and the entire Battie Family back to Temple. Go Owls!"
Battie comes to the Owls from Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Texas. A versatile player, he is rated as the No. 35 power forward in the nation and the No. 11 player in the state of Texas by 247sports and is a Top 150 prospect according to On3. Battie chose Temple over multiple Big Ten and SEC schools.
"When visiting with Dillon in Lancaster, Texas, it was clear that he is not only a great player but a great ambassador in his community," commented Fisher. "The entire staff at Lancaster High School spoke outwardly of not only Dillon as a basketball player, but as a person."
He also has an impressive lineage. His uncle, Tony played in the NBA for 14 seasons, the final two of them coming with the Sixers. His father, Derrick, is a Temple alumnus who started all 33 games as a freshman for a team that advanced to the 1993 Elite Eight. Overall, Derrick played in 123 games, scoring 840 points, pulling in 651 rebounds and appearing in four NCAA tournaments for the Owls.
Tobiason has been one of the best rising recruits on the East Coast. Hailing from St. Elizabeth in Wilmington, Del., he averaged 13 points per game last season. Tobiason announced his arrival last season in a game against Philadelphia Catholic League power Neumann-Gorretti with 35 points and 10 rebounds.
"Aiden is a great find for our program and someone we're very excited to have come on board," said Fisher. "His skill set, work ethic and versatility stuck out right away to our staff during the recruiting process. Aiden has a unique ability to score the basketball in many different ways. His ability to stretch the floor made him a perfect fit for what we are looking to build at Temple. We are happy to welcome Aiden and the entire Tobiason Family to Temple."
His personality is also a fantastic match for Temple men's basketball.
"On his visit to Temple, it was great to see Aiden interact with our players. His personality and ability to connect with our current team in a short amount of time showed us we would be a great fit for our program," remarked Fisher.
The Owls return to action on Friday night at Navy.
