Men's Basketball Walk-On Ryan Sayers Awarded Scholarship

PHILADELPHIA - Senior guard Ryan Sayers, who is in his second full season as a walk-on on the Temple men's basketball team, has been awarded a full scholarship, announced head coach Aaron McKie today at the team's practice.
"We are so happy to be able to reward Ryan for his hard work over the past two seasons with Temple Basketball," said McKie. "He is the perfect teammate, always upbeat, never has a bad day, and his energy is infectious.  What he brings to the team, day in and day out, truly helps make us better."
"I want to thank Coach McKie for the opportunity to be a member of the Temple Basketball team the past two seasons and for this amazing gift," said Sayers. "Being on scholarship will not change anything about how I approach the game. I will continue to come to practice and be the best teammate that I can be and try to be the hardest worker in the room."
Sayers, a Pottstown, Pa. native, was a three-year letterwinner and two-year starter at Owen J. Roberts High (2016-19). As a senior in 2018-19, he averaged 14 points as a senior and was named the team's Offensive Player of the Year award. Â
