Gymnastics Scores 195.175 at LIU Tri-Meet; Finishes Third

BROOKVILE, N.Y. – On Sunday afternoon, the Temple gymnastics team competed in its second meet in three days as it made a trip to the Pratt Rec Center in Long Island, N.Y. to compete against No. 25 NC State and the host LIU. Temple finished in third place with 195.175, while the Wolfpack finished in first with a 196.275 and the host Sharks ended in second place with a 195.650.

UP NEXT
The Owls will return McGonigle Hall next week with a pair of home quad meets. Starting with the My Cause Meet, Temple will take on West Chester, Maryland, and Towson on Thursday, March 2 at 4 p.m. and then turnaround three days later with the Senior Day Meet on March 5 at 4 p.m. Temple will host Ursinus, SCSU, and Fisk. Both meets will be available on ESPN+.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The 195.175 is the third-highest score this season for Temple.
- Freshman Ashley Glynn scored a career-high 39.100 in her fourth-straight all-around competition this season.
- The Owls had 11 scores of 9.8 or better, including a 9.925 on floor from Brooke Donabedian.
Rotation 1 (Floor – 49.175)
- The Owls scored their third 49-plus score of the season, ranking for their third highest score thus far this season.
- Donabedian tied for second with NC State's Emily Shepard, with a season-high 9.925. It's the third time in four meets that the Maple Valley, Wash. native has earned a 9.925.
- Three other Owls including Summer Ruskey (9.875), Renee Schugman (9.875), and Anna Hill (9.850) had strong meets. While tying for fifth on the day, the sophomore Ruskey tied her career-high for the third time this season. Additionally, fellow sophomore Anna Hill added a career-best for the second time in three meets.
Rotation 2 (Vault – 48.150)
- Led by 9.8 scores from senior Madison Brooks and junior Mackenzie Aresta, the Owls went on to score a 48.150.
- For both Brooks and Aresta, 9.8 tallies marked their season-bests.
Rotation 3 (Bars – 48.875)
- Three of the six Owls scored at least a 9.8 on the bars.
- Anchor Ashley Glynn led the squad with a career-best 9.875. The freshman tied for second place in the event, including 9.8 scores in four of her last six outings.
- Junior Cyrena Whalen scored a 9.825, her fourth straight 9.8 or better.
- Sophomore Madison Dorunda also added a career-best 9.800, her first score of 9.8 or better this season.
- Hannah Stallings continued her strong season on bars as she scored a 9.725. It's the eighth time in nine meets the sophomore has tallied a score of 9.7 or better.
Rotation 4 (Beam – 48.975)
- The first five of the six Cherry and White gymnasts scored at least a 9.725 on Sunday.
- Dorunda led the Owls as she tied a career-high 9.875, earning a third-place finish in the event.
- Glynn added her second personal-best score on the day. The Delaware native scored a 9.825, giving her the second 9.8 score this year.
- Amanda Scheuerman and Julianna Roland scored 9.775s, while Renee Schugman added a 9.725.
