Owls Face City Rival Drexel in Mid-Week Tennis Matchup

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's tennis (7-2) will look to build from their strong performance this weekend as they visit city rival Drexel (4-5) on Wed, March 1, for a match on the Vidas Courts starting at noon.

THE OWLS:

Temple is coming off a successful weekend, defeating both Norfolk St. and the Siena Saints on Saturday and Sunday at Penn.
During both matches, Temple debuted the pairing of Marin Delmas and Alberto Blumenschein who led the Owls from the first position. The pair stayed a perfect 2-0 to help Temple acquire both victories.
Temple has found great success out of all their doubles pairs so far this spring. Hussein El Tawil and Louis Gorregues have appeared in eight total matches this spring and have won seven of them – keeping a perfect 4-0 record in the third position as a pair.
Last season, the Owls hosted Drexel at the TU Pavilion on Apr. 8, 2022. Temple won 7-0 behind a dominant performance from the entire team.

SCOUTING DREXEL:

The Dragons most recently suffered a close loss to CAA opponent William & Mary on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 25, by a final score of 4-3. Drexel even secured the doubles point after winning in the second and third positions but lost the lead in singles play.
Graduate-student Daniel Dudockin leads the Dragons in wins with a 9-5 overall record this season. In the spring alone, he is 5-3, and can be seen most in the second and third positions of singles play.
Drexel's top doubles pair consists of sophomore Alan Jesudason and junior Alex De Sousa. At the Drexel invitational this past November, the pair beat Temple's Hussein El Tawil and Henrique Petiz in the first position, 6-3.
The Dragons now find themselves on a three-game home stretch hosting Temple on Wednesday, LIU on Saturday, March 4, then St. John's next Saturday, March 11.
