No. 11 Fencing Set for Northwestern Duals

PHILADELPHIA - After getting a week-long break following its last competition, the No. 11 Temple fencing team will head to the Windy City for the Northwestern Duals on Nov. 4-5.
The Owls are 12-12 on the season, going 3-5 at the Philadelphia Invitational. Temple topped No. 2 (DIII) Johns Hopkins and No. 14 UNC before dropping close matches to No. 8 Penn, No. 5 Ohio State, and No. 12 Yale.
Epeeist Margherita Calderaro led the team with a 14-5 mark, with a 31-17 record on the season. Renee Oymann (foil) had a breakout performance on day two, going 8-3 as a true freshman. Eva Ventura's 10-4 record led the sabre squad, while Arwen Gormley (sabre) posted a perfect 4-0 mark on day one.Â
Temple will once again face top competition, with action on day one starting at 8:15 a.m. and day two starting at 8 a.m. Day one will see the Cherry and White face Air Force, No. 5 Northwestern, Cleveland State, Boston College, No. 13 Stanford, and UCSD, while day two will see action against Wayne State, Lawrence, No. 7 Cornell, Incarnate Word, No. 5 (DIII) Denison, No. 6 Ohio State, and Detroit Mercy.
