PHILADELPHIA - After a bye in week four of the young season, the Owls return to action on Sunday as they travel to New Haven, Conn. to face-off with former ECAC rival, Yale. The dual meet will begin at 1 p.m. and will be available on ESPN+.

ONE TOUCH WARMUP
- The Owls (193.650) plucked LIU (192.875), Cornell (191.450), and Bridgeport (191.225) on Jan. 20 at home inside McGonigle Hall, picking up their first meet victory since Feb. 25, 2022 as it defeated No. 29 NC State in Raleigh, N.C.Â
- Yale placed third at the New Hampshire quad meet on Sunday, Jan. 29 as it scored 192.700. The Bulldogs team bested the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (191.350) but finished behind first-place Penn (195.025) and host New Hampshire (192.750).
ROAD TO THE NATIONALS
- The Owls have yet to hit their stride in 2023, starting with a 193.692 average after three meets into the season. However, the Owls are in the top 50 nationally on the bars and beam. Going into this weekend's meet, Temple is ranked 45th on the bars as they have averaged 48.592, and on the beam, it's even better with a 48.717, ranking 39th. The Cherry and White scored a season-high 48.900 in week one at the Keystone Classic in Pittsburgh and in the same meet they scored their first 49 of the season with a 49.150 on the beam.
Bars
- Last time out during the Jan. 20 home quad meet with Cornell, LIU, and Bridgeport, both Hannah and Sarah Stallings hit on two of the best routines of the season for Temple, scoring matching 9.875s.
- Sarah Stallings enters this weekend tied for sixth in the EAGL, while ranked seventh in the northeast region. Sarah has cranked out at least a 9.800 on bars in each of her three meets this season. After a career-high 9.875 two weeks ago, sister Hannah's average has jumped to 9.783. Additionally, Cyrena Whalen is the only other Owls' gymnast to at least average a 9.7 to start the season. So far this season, Whalen has averaged a 9.767 after three meets, picking up a season-high 9.825 during the Keystone Classic on Jan. 6.
- As a team, the Owls are ranked fourth in the northeast region with a 48.592.
Beam
- Three of the six gymnasts who have competed on the beam this season are currently ranked in the top 20 of the northeast region.
- The beam team starting lineup has been held consistently by the same six gymnasts throughout the first three meets. The group has 11 scores of 9.7 or better, including five 9.8s and a 9.9. Leading Temple on the bars after three weeks is junior Brooke Donabedian. The Maple Valley, Wash. native is fourth in the EAGL and tied for fourth in the northeast region, averaging a 9.825. Donabedian started off the season tied for seventh during Jan. 6's Keystone Classic. There she's scored her first of two 9.8 scores, recording a season-high 9.825, but two weeks ago at home on Jan. 20, Donabedian earned second place with a score of 9.875 behind teammate Hannah Stallings. Stallings stood tall at the end of that meet with first-place score and career-high 9.900. Additionally, Stallings is tied for sixth in the conference and 10th in the region. Fellow beam mate, Madison Dorunda finds herself 20th in the northeast after three meets with a 9.733.
- The Owls are ranked fifth in northeast region rankings after week three with a 48.717.
Vault
- The last time on vault during the Jan. 20 home quad meet, the Owls scored a season-high 48.625. Five of the six Temple gymnasts went on to record 9.7 scores, including Ashley Glynn (9.800), Madison Brooks (9.725), Rennee Schugman, Mackenzie Aresta (9.700), and Hannah Stallings (9.700). The rookie gymnast Glynn scored her second consecutive 9.8 score and second straight vault victory. On Jan. 15, Glynn earned a career-high 9.850 at the University of New Hampshire and then a 9.800 at home on Jan. 20.Â
- With Glynn's 9.800, the freshman's average stays at 9.800 on the season, ranking her No. 12 in the northeast region.
Floor
- Brooke Donabedian led the Owls last time out on the floor during the Jan. 20 home quad meet. The junior picked up a team season-high 9.900 for her team, while earning her first event victory of the season. Sophomore Summer Ruskey also had a standout performance for the Owls in third career outing. Ruskey capitalized on a career-high 9.875, picking up second place finish on the night. Additionally, sophomore Anna Hill grabbed a season-best 9.700 in her second career outing on the floor.
- Temple has averaged 47.958, 64th nationally.
All-Around
- Going into this weekend Hannah Stallings is ranked ninth in the EAGL and is top 20 in the northeast region in the all-around. Stallings has been the lone Cherry and White athlete this season to compete in all four events. The last time the Raleigh, N.C. native competed in the all-around was on Jan. 15 at New Hampshire scoring a season-high 38.425. It was Stallings first all-around victory of the season and seventh of her career.
SCOUTING YALE
- The Bulldogs come into this weekend with a 3-5 record. In its lone dual meet action of the season, Yala defeated Brown on Jan. 15.
- Sarah Wilson was named Gymnastics East Conference Gymnast (GEC) of the Week earlier this week. Wilson earned a career high all-around score of 38.925 in a meet at New Hampshire on Sunday, Jan. 29. On bars and beam, Wilson earned Yale's top score of the event with a 9.800 and a 9.675 (tie) respectively. Wilson also posted a 9.700 on vault and a 9.750 on floor.
- Yale's vault team scored a 47.825 in the UNH quad meet with Penn and Wisconsin-Whitewater. Wilson led her team with an eighth-place finish (9.700) while Gigi Sabatini placed tenth (9.675).
- The bars were the team's strongest event (48.675) in the UNH quad meet UNH quad meet. Wilson's 9.800 tied her for fifth, while Sabatini had the second-best performance on the team, finishing seventh with a 9.775.
- The balance beam (48.175) was the second-strongest event for the Bulldogs last weekend. Wilson and Emma Mangiacapre tied for the highest score on the team (9.675).
- On the floor, the Bulldogs scored 48.025 with Wilson tying for sixth place with a score of 9.750.
UP NEXT
- It will be a quick turn around for the Owls as they will be back in action at Towson on Friday, Feb. 10 in a quad meet with NC State and Pitt. The meet will begin at 6 p.m.
