Women’s Tennis Hosts Howard Looking to Get Back Above .500

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's tennis (1-1) look to get back in the win column as they
host Howard (0-0) on UPenn's campus this Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.

The OWLS:

The Cherry and White started last year 1-1 as well, before going on to win seven of their next 10 games and riding the momentum into the conference playoffs.
The Temple women's tennis team has not competed since January 21 when they fell to West Virginia. The top doubles pairing of Maiko Uchijima and Jamie Wei were knotted at 3-3 when the point was won by WVU.
After a dominant freshman season, sophomore Veronika Kulhava has continued to win for the Owls. Last year, she finished with an 18-5 record in singles play and 16-6 in doubles with four different partners.

Scouting Howard:

The Bison will open their season on the road versus Temple on Sunday after their opening match against St. John's was postponed. Last season, Howard's women's tennis finished 10-5 and made a run into the second round of the MEAC playoffs before losing to the three seed, South Carolina State.
While still in her freshman year, Jordan Grayson was named the 2022 MEAC Player of the Year. She went 9-4 from the first position in singles play and dominated in doubles as well finishing with 12 wins and only two losses with partner Sifa Butcher.
Last season, both Grayson and Hana ElSherif were nominated to the All-MEAC First Team for their contributions to the women's tennis program.
