Track and Field Earns Five Top-20 Finishes at Rutgers Invitational; Riches Breaks Pole Vault Record

NEW YORK, N.Y. – On the final day of the Rutgers Invitational, the Temple track and field team earned five top-20 finishes, including senior Allie Riches breaking the school record in the pole vault for the second time in three weeks.
 
Saturday Results
  • In the pole vault, Riches finished sixth with a mark of 3.83 meters. Just two weeks ago at the Villanova Invitational, the senior transfer broke a record held by Melissa Gale since 2010.
  • Madison Trout and Chelby Elam finished 19th and 20th in the 60 meters, respectively with times of 7.83 and 7.85. Lauren Greig set an indoor personal record in the unseed round with a time of 8.02.
  • Jewel Ofotan and teammate Isatu Shirek earned season-best times in the 200 meters for the Owls. Ofotan's time of 26.24, improved her season-best by two-hundredths of a second, while Shirek finished by behind Ofotan with a time a of 26.92, bettering her previous best by .54.
  • Cat Shontz made her first appearance of the indoor season in the 3000 meters, finishing 17th out of 46 distance runners. She clocked a time of 10:20.37, just .04 seconds short of her personal best.
