Track & Field Heads to Big 5 & Friends for First Philadelphia Meet of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track and field team will compete in the city of Philadelphia for the first time since the 2022 Penn Relays. The Owls head to Franklin Field on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania for the Big 5 & Friends meet this Saturday.
Last Time Out
> The Owls had a solid start to the outdoor season, with most of the team heading to the Knights Invitational at UCF and distance runners Laura Nicholson and Elvira Bredin at the Raleigh Relays.
> Allyson Metzger set a new outdoor personal best in the long jump (5.35m/17.55ft). Chidumga Nkulume and Kwanda Knight shined in the 400m dash, setting personal bests. Allie Riches set a new program record for outdoor pole vault (3.80m) while finishing in first place.
> In Raleigh, Laura Nicholson had a fantastic showing. She finished 25th in a field of 185 runners in the 1500m and set a new personal best in the 800m while earning 7th in a field of 123 competitors.
Previewing the Owls
> Six Owls will compete in the 100m dash. Chelby Elam, Jewel Ofoton, Lauren Greig, Tannekee Strachan, Madison Trout, and Allyson Metzger will hit the track for the Cherry & White.
> In Temple's largest event of the day, seven runners will be representing TU in the 200m. Elam, Ofotan, Trout, and Greig return from the 100m. Nkulume, Sophia Gulotti, and Fiona Carter will join for the event. Nkulume will also run in the 400m.
> Michelle Frowijn will be the lone Owl running in the 800m. Frowijn and Dominyka Petraskiate will also run in the 1500m.
> Gulotti, Carter, and Isatu Shirek will hit the track for the 100m hurdles. Knight and Shirek will do the same for the 400m hurdles.
> On the field side, Nicole Caster, Amira Green, Jaaliyah Evans, and Carter will compete in the high jump.
> Program record holder Allie Riches will be jumping in the pole vault, Allyson Metzger and Tannekee Strachan will be long jumping and Strachan will also compete in her signature event in the triple jump.
> Finally, Fiona Carter and Nicole Castor will be throwing in the javelin. This will be the first time Temple has competed in the javelin this season.
