Men’s Tennis to Face Wichita St. Before AAC Tournament

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's tennis (18-4) will play AAC foe Wichita St. (11-4) in first conference match of the season at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, FL.., beginning at 1:00 p.m. Both teams will use the match as preparation for the upcoming AAC Tournament beginning on Friday.

THE OWLS:

Temple is coming off a win over the Georgetown Hoyas on Friday, April 14, by a final score of 7-0. The match served as senior day for the 2023 season with the Owls honoring Marin Delmas, Louis Gorregues and captain Thibault Frumholz before play began.
The Owls have been consistently securing the doubles point thanks to the strong performances by the three starting duos. Thibault Frumholz and Leo Raquin are 10-0 from the first position, Marin Delmas and Gregoire Barety are 7-0 from the second and Hussein El Tawil and Louis Gorregues are 14-1 from the fifth.
Tuesday will mark only the second time that Wichita St. and Temple have faced off in men's tennis history. The Shockers currently hold the advantage 1-0 with the only other meeting taking place on April 3, 2022, with Wichita winning 4-1.

SCOUTING WICHITA ST:

Wichita St. is riding a two-game win streak most recently defeating Creighton men's tennis on Saturday, April 15 at 9:30 a.m.
Prior to the Creighton match, the Shockers had an upset win over No. 55 SMU in a tight 4-3 victory breaking a six-game losing streak.
Alejandro Jacome leads Wichita St. in overall wins with 14. He has played in the second, third, fourth, and fifth positions but has found the most success in the fourth position earning a 6-2 record.
The doubles team of Kristof Minarik and Alex Richards have won the most matches for Wichita out of the first position. The team is 9-5 from the top spot and 1-0 in conference play so far.
Throughout the spring season, Wichita St. was 3-11 when having to play on the road or at a neutral site.
