No. 8 Temple to Face No. 1 Memphis in Opening Round of AAC Tournament

ORLANDO, FL – No. 8 Temple men's tennis (19-4, 1-0) is preparing to face No. 1 Memphis (12-6, 5-1) in the opening round of the AAC Tournament on Friday morning, April 21. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be played on courts 7-12. The winner will move on to play the winner of #4 SMU/#5 Tulsa on Saturday, April 22, at 12 noon.

THE OWLS:
- Temple is coming off a win over conference foe Wichita St. on Tuesday, April 18, by a final score of 4-3. It marked the one and only conference opponent on Temple schedule this season even with a 19-4 record throughout the spring.
- All six of Temple's starters have over 10 individual wins this spring. Graduate-student Thibault Frumholz leads the team with a 19-2 record in singles play. He is 10-1 from the fifth position this spring.
- The combination of Leo Raquin and Thibault Frumholz have a perfect 11-0 record in the first position of doubles play for the Owls this spring. They were ranked No. 81 in the nation back in early April for their dominant performance against Penn.
- Friday will mark the eighth meeting between both teams in men's tennis history. Memphis holds an 8-0 advantage over the Owls dating back to their first meeting in 2015. Most recently, Temple fell 4-2 to Memphis in Dallas, TX, last season.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS:
- Memphis claimed the top seed in the conference for the first time since 2018 thanks to its 12-6 record while going 5-1 in conference games.
- The Tigers finished their season going 4-1 in the last 5 matches they played including wins over San Diego St., UCF, Wichita St., and Tulane.
- Harry Rock leads Memphis in wins this season with a 12-2 record in singles play through the fourth, fifth, and sixth positions.
- Pablo Alemany has started each match from the first position for Memphis this spring. He has an 8-7 record but is 2-5 in his last 10 performances.
- In doubles, David Stevenson and Jeremy Taylor are 6-4 from the first position. They're 6-4 in the last 10 and are 2-0 against nationally ranked opponents.
