Track & Field Set for Key Weekend at the Virginia Challenge

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track and field team looks to keep the good times rolling this weekend at the Virginia Challenge. The Owls have been on a hot streak recently, with several strong individual performances that has the team well positioned for a strong contingent at NCAA East Regionals.

The Virginia Challenge will be the second meet of Temple's season with streaming available, with the first being the Temple Invite. The events on Friday from 7-9 p.m. will be available to stream on ACC Network Extra.

Last Time Out
> Temple's weekend was cut short by inclement weather at Princeton on Saturday of the Larry Ellis Invitational.
> The Owls only competed in six events, but performed well nonetheless, recording two personal bests.
> Amira Green stole the show for the Cherry & White. The sophomore jumper put up a career best 1.74m (5' 8.5") good for 32^nd in the East Region. She is one of four Owls, alongside Laura Nicholson, Allie Riches, and Tannekee Strachan, who is currently tracking to qualify for the East Regional.

Previewing the Owls
> Three Owls will compete in the 100m dash. Chelby Elam, Lauren Greig,, and Madison Trout, will hit the track for the Cherry & White. The same three will run in the 200m.
> Kwanda Knight, Chidumga Nkulume, and Marissa White will compete in the 400m.
> Isatu Shirek is the lone Owl running in the 100m hurdles. Knight and Shirek will represent in the 400m hurdles.
> On the mid-distance side, Elvira Bredin and Laura Nicholson will run for Temple. For Nicholson, it will be the first time she has run since breaking the 1500m school record at the Temple Invite. She will run in the 800m while Bredin will run in the 800. and 1500m.
> The Owls will be well represented in the jump squad. Nicole Castor, Jaaliyah Evans, and Green will compete in the high jump for Temple. Allyson Metzger and Strachan will jump in the long jump, with Strachan also competing in the triple jump. Finally, Riches will be competing in the pole vault.
> Elam, Greig, Jewel Ofotan, and Trout will be wearing Cherry & White in the 4 x 100m relay. White, Nkulume, Knight, and Trout will do the same in the 4x400m.

> Temple returns to Philadelphia for its final meet of the regular season at the legendary Penn Relays. The meet will run from Thursday, April 27-Saturday, April 29.
