Damian Dunn Selected First Team All-Big 5; Men’s Basketball Shares Big 5 Team of Year

PHILADELPHIA –Temple University redshirt sophomore guard Damian Dunn was selected First Team All-Philadelphia Big 5. Temple will also be presented the Big 5 championship trophy as the Owls share the city-series title with Villanova as each team posted 3-1 records.
Former Owl great David Hawkins is also being honored as he is one five former players to be inducted into the Big 5 Hall of Fame (click release).
The awards will be presented at the Philadelphia Big 5 Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet to be held next Monday, April 10 at The Palestra. Doors open at 6 pm. Tickets reservation click here.
Dunn ranked second on Temple in scoring (15.3 ppg/11th AAC), free throw percentage (149-183, .814/t9h), three-point percentage (48-138, .348) and assists (3.0 apg). The Kinston, N.C. native has scored in double figures in 22 games, topping 20 points eight times. He scored a career-high 38 points, the most by an Owls since 2004 and tied for the ninth best point total by a Temple player in school history, against Vanderbilt. He also tallied 34 points, including the 1000th point of his career, at Cincinnati.
One of the top Temple players at getting to the free throw line, Dunn tied Lynn Greer's school record in the season opener by making all 18 of his free throw attempts against Wagner in a 29-point effort. His 149 free throws made rank second in the AAC and is tied for 42nd in the NCAA this season.
This is the third straight season that Dunn has been honored by the Big 5. In 2020-21, he was named Co-Rookie of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Big 5 second team. Last season, he also was named to First Team all-Big 5.
