Men's Crew Brings Home Three Gold Medals at Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA - Temple took home the Murphy Cup in the Varsity Eight Race for the first time since 2021 Saturday at the 40th Annual Murphy Cup Regatta. Alongside the Varsity Eight, Temple's Freshman Four took home gold in the Novice Four final and the Owls' Third Varsity Eight "B" boat also prevailed in the Third Varsity Eight Final.
RACE RESULTS
>Varsity Eight finished first in their heat one race with a final time of 5:49.52. The Owls then won the Varsity Eight Final with a time of 5:42.04, beating out second-place La Salle by over three seconds
>The Second Varsity Eight "A" boat finished first in their Heat One race with a final time of 6:04.24 and finished second in the 2V8 final timing in at 5:57.40
>The Second Varsity Eight "B" finished second in the 2V8 Heat Two race behind La Salle with a time of 05:55.96. Temple finished third in the 2V8 final with a time of 6:08.05
>The Third Varsity Eight "A" boat finished third in the 3V8 final with a time of 06:18.38.
> The Owls Third Varsity Eight "B" boat took home gold in the 3V8 final with a final time of 6:00.8
>The Varsity Four finished first in their Heat One Race timing in at 6:46.01 before finishing second in the finals with a time of 6:52.31
>The Freshman Four finished first in the Novice Four Final with a time of 07:03.73.
FROM THE COACH
"I am really happy to be able to bring the Murphy Cup back home where it belongs. It was a smaller regatta this year, but as usual the front end competition was fierce and always keeps us honest. Our five 8s did very well, pulling down two gold, a silver, and a bronze. In addition, our freshmen all double-raced and added to their gold in the 3V8 event by getting first in the Freshman Four and second in the Varsity Four. Now, we will enjoy the well-earned holiday off and prep for our big race next weekend," said Head Coach Brian Perkins.

The Owls will travel to Mercer, N.J. to face Holy Cross, Georgetown, and Marist next Sunday.
