Gymnastics Earns a Pair of Event Victories and a 9.9 score on Sunday at GW Lindsay Ferris Invitational

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Temple Owls gymnastics team earned a pair of event wins from juniors Sarah Stallings and Madison Dorunda and a 9.900 from senior Brooke Donabedian on Sunday afternoon at the George Washington Lindsey Ferris Invitational. The Owls scored a season-high 194.100, but Penn won the five-team meet with a score of 195.375, followed by the host Colonials with a 195.025. In fourth place was Yale a 193.325 and Cornell with a 192.850 in fifth.

HOW IT HAPPENEND
- The Cherry and White scored 13 9.7s or better during Sunday's meet, including all six gymnasts on the floor exercise.
- The Owls floor squad gave the team its first 49-plus score this season.
- Temple was leading through three rotations, but after a bye in rotation four, the Quakers and George Washington overtook the first and second positions.
ROTATION 1 (BARS – 48.450)
- Stallings continued her mastery of the bars as she added her eighth career championship as she scored a 9.800.
- The Raleigh N.C. junior's event-winning score was her 18th career 9.8 or better in her career..
- Sophomore Emily Johnson made her career debut on bars, adding 9.750, good for fifth place.
- Fellow sophomore Reese DeHaan tied her career-high of 9.700, a mark she tied on Jan. 5 at the Keystone Classic.
ROTATION 2 (BEAM – 48.175)
- Dorunda earned her second career win on the beam with a 9.850.
- Senior Renee Schugman finished in fourth place with a season-best 9.825.
- The Owls' Donabedian (9.750) and junior Summer Ruskey (9.700) scored each scored 9.7 or better.
ROTATION 3 (FLOOR - 49.175)
- Donabedian's 9.900 was good for third place in the event and also marked the ninth of her career.
- Three other gymnasts scored at least a 9.8 in rotation three including Summer Ruskey (9.800), Renee Schugman (9.825), and Payton Monk (9.850).
- In her third time out, Monk has now set a new career-high score along with scoring two 9.8-plus scores to begin her career.
ROTATION 5 (VAULT – 48.300)
- Schugman was Temple's highest scorer with a 9.700.
- Three freshman gymnasts were featured on the vault including, Hailey Best making her collegiate debut with 9.650.
