Women’s Track and Field Starts Its Season This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's track and field opens its 2024 season with a two-day meet at the new indoor facility located in South Philadelphia, The Ott Center. The Cherry & White have 14 returners with 14 newcomers joining the Owls, including 12 freshmen.

Previewing the Owls
> A total of 22 athletes will represent Temple across 14 events this weekend.
> Freshman Zayniah Ali, Sadie Dixon, Jayla Green, Grace Hickman, Mariah Jameson, Maliah Powell, Deja Scott, Chloe Smith and Dicia Watkins will make their college debut this weekend.
> Amira Green, a 2024 outdoor NCAA East Regional qualifier, leads the jumping events for the Owls. Six Temple athletes will compete in the jumps: Sadie Dixon (high jump), Green (high jump), Reagan Schwartz (long jump, triple jump), Deja Scott (long jump), Reece Sullivan (pole vault), and Aliza White Vega (pole vault).
> For the sprints, Ali, Siani Brown-Carr, Nya Browne, Allyson Metzger, and Lila Ziegler will compete in the 60-meter dash, while Ali, Brown-Carr, and Smith will race in the 60-meter hurdles.
> Terren Bolton, Allyson Metzger and Watkins will run the 300 meter dash
> Green, Jameson, Powell and Jade Pope will race in the 600 meters.
> Running the distance, Laila Cottom and Maya Gomes will run the 1,000 meter race.
> To conclude the meet Temple will race two 4x400 meter relay teams.
