Stanford Named to AAC All-Freshman Team

IRVING, Texas – Zion Stanford of the Temple University men's basketball team has been named to the American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
It is the first time Temple has had a representative on the All-Freshman Team since 2021-22.
"It's great for Zion to be recognized as one of the top freshmen in our conference," said Head Coach Adam Fisher. "There are a lot of really good players in our league, so to be recognized among the best in any category is a fantastic accomplishment. It's a well-deserved reward for the hard work he has put in this season to help our team."
A two-time AAC Freshman of the Week, Stanford is averaging 6.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season. He started off his career in style with double figure scoring in six of his first nine games, including a 19-point, nine rebound effort against Saint Joseph's in the Big 5 Classic Championship game on December 2.
The Philadelphia native has seen a resurgence in recent weeks, scoring 8.0 points a contest and shooting 56.3 percent (27-for-48) from the floor in the last nine games. Included in that is a career best 20-point effort against UAB on March 7.
Temple begins play in the AAC Tournament on Wednesday, March 13 when it takes on UTSA in a First Round game. Tipoff from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas is schedule for 3:00 p.m. EDT with the game to be aired on ESPN+.
