Men's Tennis to Face No. 54 Penn and Bucknell on Friday and Sunday

PHILADELPHIA- Temple men's tennis (5-8) will return to Hecht Tennis Center as the away team, where it will face No. 54 University of Pennsylvania (10-7) on Friday, March 15 at noon. Just two days later on Sunday, March 17 at 1 p.m., the Owls will return to Hecht Tennis Center to host Bucknell (7-2). Sunday marks the first of the final five home matches of the season.
THE OWLS
- Temple will enter the weekend off a 1-2 record the prior week. The Owls began their three-match week with a 6-1 win against FDU. Although the Cherry and White fell to Navy and Creighton, the team achieved a total of four doubles wins and ten singles victories.
- The tandem of Dante Russo and Pranav Nemani dominated doubles last week, achieving three consecutive wins.
- First-year Adam Kresina leads the team in singles with an impressive six.
- After a 19-5 season, without a loss at home, Temple fell to No. 1 Memphis at USTA Tennis Center in the opening round of the AAC Championship, 4-2.
- In the fall, Temple sent two student-athletes to Tulsa, OK to participate in the ITA-All American Championship Tournament: Gregoire Barety and Dante Russo.
- As a team, the Owls kept busy in the fall. They participated in the Penn Invite playing the likes of the University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Liberty from Sept. 15-17, the ITA All-American Championship Tournament in Oklahoma from Oct. 1-3, and both Navy Invitationals from Oct. 15-17 and Nov. 9-11.Scouting Norfolk State
Scouting the Quakers
- The Quakers sit at No. 54 in the nation with an overall record of 10-7.
- Penn has lost its last two matches against UCF, 4-0, and Miami, 4-3.
- To close the 2023 spring season, the Quakers ended with an overall record of 13-9 and an Ivy League conference record of 5-2.
Scouting the Bison
- Bucknell obtains a record of 7-2 as of mid-March.
- The Bison have achieved a four-match winning streak against Mount St. Mary's, Le Moyne, St. Bonaventure, and Westmont.
- Sophomore Amar Tahirovic was named Patriot League Men's Tennis Player of the Week in January for his 10-1 singles and 14-3 doubles records, dating back to the beginning of fall.
- Last spring, Bucknell concluded the season with a 15-8 overall record, a 4-3 in the Patriot League conference, and a loss to Navy in the Patriot League Semi-Finals.
