Owls Begin Outdoor Track Season at South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. — The Temple Women's Track & Field program opened its 2024 outdoor track schedule at the USF Invite in Tampa, Florida this weekend.
The two-day event saw a competitive field of 20 teams. The Owls saw five top-10 finishes and one new personal record.
How It Happened
- In the high jump, Amira Green picked up where she left off at the end of the indoor season with a strong showing. Green leaped 1.70 meter (5-07) to tie for second in the event.
- In the long and triple jumps, Inara Shell and Obiamaka Igwenagu performed well. Igwenagu placed third in the triple with a jump of 12.47 meters (40-11), while Shell placed ninth at 11.83 meters (38-9.75). In the long jump, Shell leaped 5.51 meters (18-01) and Igwenagu scored 5.47 meters (17-11.5).
- In the 2,000-meter steeplechase, Elsa Chan placed sixth with a time of 7:10.04.
- Allie Riches led the way in pole vault for Temple, leaping 3.75 meters (12-3.5). Aliza White Vega placed 14th at a height of 3.46 meters (11-3.75).
- Nya Browne set a new personal record in the 200 meters, clocking in at 25.27.
- In the 400 meters, Jade Pope clocked in at 57.53 to place 17th out of 45 athletes.
