Women’s Track & Field to Compete at Penn Challenge

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Track & Field program is set to continue its outdoor season at the Penn Challenge on Saturday, March 23.
The event is hosted by the University of Pennsylvania at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Temple will be one of 11 schools competing at the Penn Challenge: Columbia, Cornell, La Salle, Lehigh, Navy, Penn, Princeton, Rutgers, St. Joseph's and Villanova.
Last Time Out
> Temple competed at the USF Invite in Tampa, hosted by the University of South Florida. The Owls saw five top-10 finishes. Amira Green led the way with a second-place finish in the high jump at 1.70 meters (5-07).
> In the long and triple jumps, Inara Shell and Obiamaka Igwenagu performed well. Igwenagu placed third in the triple with a jump of 12.47 meters (40-11), while Shell placed ninth at 11.83 meters (38-9.75). In the long jump, Shell leaped 5.51 meters (18-01) and Igwenagu scored 5.47 meters (17-11.5).
>In the 2,000-meter steeplechase, Elsa Chan placed sixth with a time of 7:10.04.
Previewing the Owls
> In the long and triple jumps, Obiamaka Igwenagu and Inara Shell will double up in the events.
> Temple's pole vault group will include Allie Riches, Cierra Crane, Aliza White Vega, and Reece Sullivan.
> Elsa Chan will lead the team's efforts in the 3,000 meters, alongside Delilah Ayan. Dominyka Petraskaite will be Temple's lone competitor in the 1,500 meters.
> In high jump, Amira Green and Nicole Castor will compete for the Cherry & White.
> In the sprints, Allyson Metzger and Terren Bolton will race in the 100- and 200-meter sprints. Nya Browne will race in the 200 meters and 100-meter hurdles. Igwenagu will also compete in the 100 meters.
> Jade Pope and Eyota Bey will both race for Temple in the 400 meters. In the 800 meters, Laila Cottom will compete for the Owls.
> Temple's 4x400 relay team will consist of Bey, Browne, Cotton, and Petraskaite.
