Golf to Compete in ECU Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, N.C.- The Owls will head to Greenville, North Carolina to compete in the two-day ECU Intercollegiate at Brook Valley. The tournament will be held at the par-72, 6831-yard Brook Valley Golf Club. The field will consist of 14 teams. The team is coming off a solo-eighth place finish in the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate.Â

The Owls lineup with feature some newcomers heading down to North Carolina. Graham Chase, Ethan Whitney, Joey Morganti, Michael Walsh are the familiar faces with Matthew Vital rounding out the starting five. Junior Jake Naese will compete as an individual.Â

The tournament is hosted by East Carolina and will consist of 12 other teams along with Temple: Barton, Dartmouth, Fairleigh Dickinson, Francis Marion, Gardner Webb, IUPUI, Marshall, Oakland, Queens, Samford, Temple, UCF, USC Upstate and Youngstown State.Â

The Owls will tee off Monday, March 18th at 8 am for two rounds with the final round coming the next day.Â

Scouting the Owls

- The only senior of the squad, Graham Chase, will be in his typical first spot for the tournament. He is second on the team in scoring with an average of 73.2. He has two top-10 finishes and three top-20 finishes through the season.Â
- Junior Ethan Whitney slides up to the second spot for this tournament. Whitney had a consistent three rounds of 73 in the previous Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate, placing him in a tie for 26th. He sports the third best scoring average on the team, narrowly trailing teammate Chase with an average of 73.25.Â
- Junior Joey Morganti is coming off of his impressive performance in the previous Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate. Morganti logged his second top-20 finish of the season with six-over, 215. He shot the team low score in round one with a 68.Â
- Junior Michael Walsh will tee off in the fourth position. He is one the the four players on the team to have played in every tournament on the season. He has a scoring average of 73.6 on the season.Â
- Matthew Vital will see his first start of the spring season this tournament. Vital previously competed in the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate as an individual. He has competed in nine rounds as a starter and has a scoring average of 75 with a tie for the team low round of 67.Â
- Junior Jake Naese has competed in two tournaments this season, both in the fall. He has a scoring average of 76.2
