Men's Tennis to Compete Against FDU, Navy, and Creighton this Week

PHILADELPHIA- Temple men's tennis (4-6) will face three opponents at Hecht Tennis Center to begin its March matches. First, on Tuesday, March 5, the Owls will play against Fairleigh Dickinson University (6-3) at 3 p.m. Just three days later, the Cherry and White will take on Navy (15-7) at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 8. The following day, on Saturday, March 9, Temple will compete against Creighton University (7-4).
THE OWLS
- The Cherry and White enter the week after 16 days of no matches. On Feb. 18, the Owls completed the ECAC tournament, where they finished with a thrilling 4-3 victory against Brown. Adam Kresina and Maj Najvirt Kolaric earned their first win as a tandem against the Bears. Kresina has also tallied five singles wins thus far.
- To start the 2024 spring season, Temple has earned victories against Norfolk State, Qunnipiac, and Siena.
- After a 19-5 season, without a loss at home, Temple fell to No. 1 Memphis at USTA Tennis Center in the opening round of the AAC Championship, 4-2.
- In the fall, Temple sent two student-athletes to Tulsa, OK to participate in the ITA-All American Championship Tournament: Gregoire Barety and Dante Russo.
- As a team, the Owls kept busy in the fall. They participated in the Penn Invite playing the likes of the University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Liberty from Sept. 15-17, the ITA All-American Championship Tournament in Oklahoma from Oct. 1-3, and both Navy Invitationals from Oct. 15-17 and Nov. 9-11.Scouting Norfolk State
Scouting FDU
- The Knights have played nine games thus far, topping six teams and falling to Le Moyne, NJIT, and Navy. FDU sits at 2-1 in NEC play.
- Arjun Sriram was named NEC Co-Player of the Month after holding a perfect 4-0 singles record throughout February.
- FDU's 2023 spring season resulted in a 14-8 (6-2) record, losing in the NEC Championship round.
Scouting Navy
- Navy has played a hefty 22 matches, winning 15 and coming up short against Penn, Western Michigan, DePaul, University of Delaware, James Madison, and Drexel.
- Herrick Lagaspi has contributed to several Midshipmen wins, tallying six singles wins throughout the season.
- To end the 2023 spring season, Navy finished with a 20-23 (6-0) record, winning the Patriot League and falling in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

- The Blue Jay's uphold a 7-4 record in the middle of the season, falling twice to Nebraska and once to Drake and Omaha.
- Matthew Lanahan and Alejandro Gandini earned Creighton's first nationally ranked tandem as the duo was deemed No. 47 by the ITA.
- Creighton went 13-7 to complete the spring 2023 season, coming up short in the second round of the Big East Championships.
