Golf Set to Compete in AAC Championship

BELLEAIR, Fla. – The Temple Men's Golf team travels to Belleair, Florida for the American Athletic Conference Championship this weekend (April 19-21). The 12-team event is being held at the Pelican Golf Club, which is a par-70, 6,881-yard course. The tournament consists of 54 holes over a three-day period.

The Field
The field will consist of the following teams, ranked by their regular season performance:
Charlotte, North Texas, UTSA, Florida Atlantic, UAB, and Rice will make their AAC Championship debuts, having joined the conference this past year.

Previewing the Owls
- Junior Ethan Whitney finished in an impressive 5th place in last year's AAC Championship. Whitney joined former Owl, Brandon Matthews, as the only two Temple golfers to finish under par at the AAC Championship. Matthews, a current member of the PGA Tour, posted a three-under in 2015-16 and finished in 5th place. He currently has a scoring average of 74.0 on the season, second best on the team.
- Senior Graham Chase leads the team in scoring average with a 73.0 average. Chase is looking to lead the team in scoring average in back-to-back seasons, finishing with team low average of 72.31 last year.
- Junior Joey Morganti has the teams only individual win of the season when he won the Big 5 Championship in October. He has a scoring average of 75.3, appearing in 21 total rounds.
- Junior Michael Walsh finds himself back in the lineup for the AAC Championship. He participated in every match up until last weeks Rutherford Intercollegiate. He has a scoring average of 74.8 on the season.
- The lone sophomore in the lineup this week, Aidan Emmerich, will tee off in the fourth slot this weekend. He is making his AAC Championship debut.
- Sophomore Jake Haberstumpf traveled with the team as an alternate for the weekend.
