Women’s Track & Field Travels to Charlottesville for Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Temple Women's Track & Field program is set to compete at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia On April 19-20.
The Cherry & White are set to send nine athletes to compete, across eight events. The meet marks Temple's final out-of-state competition of the regular season, before returning to Philadelphia next weekend for the Penn Relays.
Last Time Out
> Cierra Crane led the Owls with a standout performance in the pole vault, setting a new personal record with a height of 3.95 meters (12-11.5) — she placed third in the event. Crane's height makes her the No. 2 all-time pole vaulter in program history, behind teammate Allie Riches.
> Temple's high jump duo of Amira Green and Nicole Castor performed admirably, as Green took second place with a jump of 1.68 meters (5-06) and Castor placed fourth at 1.63 meters (5-4.25).
> In the 100-meter hurdles, Nya Browne placed third overall with a time of 14.78.
> Allyson Metzger led the way in sprints for the Owls, placing 10th in the 100 meters with a personal-record time of 12.33. She also set a new personal record in the 200 meters, clocking in at 25.10 and placing 13th.
Previewing the Owls
> Crane will lead the way in the pole vault once more, alongside Aliza White Vega.
> In long and triple jump, Inara Shell and Obiamaka Igwenagu will compete for the Owls.
> Amira Green and Nicole Castor will represent the Cherry & White in the high jump.
> In the sprints, Nya Browne will compete in the 100-meter hurdles, 100 meters, and 200 meters. Allyson Metzger will race in both the 100- and 200-meter sprints. Jade Pope is set to race in the 200 meters and 400 meters.
Schedule
Friday's action starts at 1:45 p.m. (field events) and 3:50 p.m. (running events). On Saturday, the field events begin at 11:00 a.m. and running begins at 2:30 p.m.

Up Next
Next up on the Owls' outdoor schedule, Temple will return to Philadelphia for the historic Penn Relays at Franklin Field. The event begins on April 25 and concludes on April 27.
