Temple Women’s Track & Field Set to Compete at Penn Invitational

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple Women's Track & Field team is set to continue its outdoor season at the Penn Invitational at Franklin Field in Philadelphia on Saturday, April 6.

 

The Owls are one of nine teams competing at the event, along with Philadelphia schools La Salle, Penn, and Villanova. The meet is set to begin at 11 a.m.

 

Last Time Out

> The Owls had a productive weekend, split at the Raleigh Relays and Sam Howell Invite (Princeton). At NC State, Elsa Chan set a new program record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 34:43.45. 

> In New Jersey, Allyson Metzger set personal records in both the 100- and 200-meter sprints, placing in the top six in both races. 

> In the triple jump, Obiamaka Igwenagu placed second with a leap of 12.30 meters (40-4.25). Inara Shell placed fourth at 11.93 meters (39-1.75) and also came in fourth in the long jump at 5.59 meters (18-4.25).

 

Previewing the Owls

> Inara Shell and Obiamaka Igwenagu will take on the long and triple jumps, while Nicole Castor and Amira Green will compete in the high jump.

> Temple's pole vault crew will consist of Allie Riches, Cierra Crane, Aliza White Vega, and Reece Sullivan

> Nya Brown will represent Temple in the 100-meter hurdles and the 200 meters. Jade Pope will join brown in the 200, alongside Allyson Metzger. Metzger will also run the 100 meters. Terren Bolton is set to double up in the 100- and 200-meter sprints.

> In the mid-distance category, Dominyka Petraskaite and Laila Cottom will both run the 800.

> Temple's distance trio of Elsa Chan, Delilah Ayan, and Jillian Wolk will race in the 1,500 meters.

Up Next

Next up on Temple's schedule, the Owls will return to New Jersey to compete at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton. The two-day event begins on April 12 and concludes on April 13.
