SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame today announced updated matchups for the Temple Men's Basketball team at this year's 2024 Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase. The Owls are set to face Florida State on Nov. 22 and UMass on Nov. 23.
The three-day event is hosted November 22-24 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The field of teams competing consists of Temple, Florida State, UMass, Vermont, Delaware, Yale, and Fairfield.
Temple and Massachusetts share a storied history, as former competitors in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Cherry & White hold a 45-23 record over the Minutemen across 68 total matchups. The last time the two teams met was in 2018, when Temple came away with a 65-63 victory in a non-conference matchup at the Liacouras Center — Shizz Alston Jr. led all scorers with 31 points. The Owls and Minutemen have faced off in the A10 tournament 10 times, six of which were in the championship game.
Florida State and Temple last matched up in November of 2016, when the Owls upset the No. 25 Seminoles 89-86. The game was a part of the NIT Season Tip-Off on Thanksgiving Day. The Owls overcame an 18-point second-half deficit, led by 26 points from freshman Quinton Rose. In total, Temple holds a 3-1 record over Florida State.
