Field Hockey Set for 18-Game Regular Season Slate

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple University field hockey team announced its 2024 schedule on Tuesday with the Owls playing 18 regular season contests including a full slate of BIG EAST games.

Temple gets the season started at home when it takes on Queens (NC) on Friday, August 30. After that, the Owls are on the road for their next five games, facing some high-level competition. Following a date at Lock Haven on Sept. 1, TU takes on Virginia on Sept. 6. The Cavaliers advanced to the NCAA Final Four last season and finished third in the NET rankings. Games at Richmond (Sept. 8) and Penn (Sept. 13) are next before Temple opens BIG EAST play at Connecticut on Sept. 20.

TU makes its return to Howarth Field and plays six of seven at home starting on Sept. 22 against La Salle. Old Dominion (Sept. 27) and Monmouth (Sept. 29) come to town before Temple plays at Liberty to open October on the fourth. The Owls face Wagner on Oct. 6 before back-to-back BIG EAST games on Oct. 11 and 18 against Providence and Georgetown, respectively.

Three consecutive road games close the month with trips to Lafayette (Oct. 20), Villanova (Oct. 25) and Yale (Oct. 27). The regular season concludes at home with Temple hosting Quinnipiac on Nov. 1 and Lehigh on Nov. 3.

The BIG EAST field hockey championship takes place on Nov. 8 and 10 on Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I.

Temple finishes last season 11-8 overall and advanced to the BIG EAST tournament for the third time in as many years under head coach Michelle Vittese.
