Fencing Continues NAC With Sabre Competition
1.4.25 | Women's Fencing
KANSAS CITY, MO - Temple Fencing continued their weekend at USA Fencing's North American Cup on Saturday, with Owls sabriests Lauren Johnson and Eva Ventura representing the Owls.
"Today was a good wake up call for the rest of the season ahead. Eva did a nice job at keeping her bouts tight and managing when her opponent made mistakes but was not able to close those matches, leaving her with 3 bouts that she lost by one touch. Leaving us with good information leading into our double sessions training camp.Â
Lauren had a good start to the day originally going 4-2 in her pool but that later changed to 3-2 due to a medical withdrawal. She proceeded to the direct elimination round and had a strong bout but was unable to make some crucial changes to continue on in the competition.Â
This event was really helpful to see what we need to work on as we head into the rest of the season."
UP NEXT
The entire Owls squad will return to action on Jan. 17 and 19 at the Philadelphia Invitational, with Temple set to host the Jan. 17 portion of the event at the TU Pavilion.
