Owls Suffer Road Loss to No. 16 Penn

PHILADELPHIA - Temple women's lacrosse (1-3) fell on the road to No. 16 Penn (2-1) by a score of 3-14 on Wednesday evening at Penn Park. Sarah Gowman, Lilly Caravela, and Lexi Culp scored the lone goals for the Owls. 

How It Happened 
No. 16 Penn picked up an early lead in the first quarter after a goal from Erika Chung, but Sarah Gowman would tie the game for the Owls. 

Following a goal from Anna Brandt to close out the first quarter, No. 16 Penn went on a 6-goal run to close out the half and take an 8-1 lead. 

In the third quarter, Lily Caravela secured her first goal as an Owl on a free position attempt. The Quakers outscored the Owls 4-1 in the third quarter. Lexi Culp secured her fifth goal of the season after a Gowman assist. 

No. 16 Penn outshot Temple 40-12 while winning the draw controls 13-8 and groundball battle 16-15. The Quakers' defense caused 20 Temple turnovers while having 12 turnovers. 

Up Next 
The Owls will return to Howarth Field on Saturday, March 1, to take on UMBC. The start time is set for noon and to be televised on ESPN+.
