Chris Clark '08 Named St. Joseph’s Prep Assistant AD, Head Basketball Coach

PHILADELPHIA – St. Joseph's Preparatory School announced Thursday that it has named Temple men's basketball assistant coach Chris Clark its assistant athletic director and head basketball coach.
Clark, a St. Joe's Prep and Temple alumnus, has spent the past 10 seasons on the Owls' coaching staff, beginning as a video coordinator during the 2015-16 season.
"My heart is filled with gratitude for my time at Temple and for the opportunity to work alongside Coach Fisher, Coach McKie, Coach Dunphy, and all the assistants and support staff," said Clark.
"Temple is a special place with incredible people, and I'll always value the relationships and experiences I have here at Temple and in the community. The last 10 years has given me and my family so many amazing memories that we will cherish and take with us. To all the players I had the privilege to coach, learn from, and most importantly build relationships with thank you. You have made me a better coach, teacher, and person. I am forever grateful.I'm excited for this next chapter at St. Joe's Prep and look forward to continuing to grow as a coach, leader, and mentor."
During his high school career at St. Joseph's Prep, Clark was a first-team all-city selection as a senior, helping the Hawks to back-to-back Philadelphia Catholic League championships. He averaged 16.1 points and 7.0 assists under head coach Speedy Morris in 2004.

A four-year member of the Owls (2004–08) as a player under both John Chaney and Fran Dunphy, Clark had a breakout senior season while serving as team captain. The Philadelphia native led the Owls in three-point percentage (57-for-137, .416) and helped lead Temple to a 21-13 record and the Atlantic 10 Conference championship as the team's sixth man. Named the 2008 Philadelphia Big 5 Most Improved Player, he increased his scoring average from 2.6 points per game as a junior to 7.5 points per game as a senior.
Following his playing career, he spent four seasons (2009–13) on the Saint Francis (Pa.) men's basketball staff, helping the Red Flash to consecutive Northeast Conference Tournament appearances. He was named assistant head coach at Campbell University in 2013 and returned to North Broad Street as Temple's video coordinator in 2015 under his former head coach, Fran Dunphy. He was promoted to assistant coach in 2016.
Clark also has an extensive résumé of community service. He has been a Big Brother Program volunteer, a Reading for Children volunteer and has done community service at the Carousel House in Philadelphia. Additionally, he has volunteered with Midtown Parish United Methodist Church, the Temple Rollin' Owls Basketball League and Cherry Hill's Martin Luther King Day events.
