Panaite Goal Secures 1-0 Temple Victory Over Lafayette

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's soccer team defeated Lafayette 1-0 on Tuesday night for its first win of the campaign. Adrian Panaite delivered the match-clinching goal towards the end of the first half to secure an Owl win. With the result, Temple boosts their record to 1-4-2 while Lafayette's shifts to 2-5-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Temple started the contest aggressively with shots from Elliot Rigbert, Charlie Votel, and Aiden O'Sullivan in the first 18 minutes.
- Diego Dauzier kept the Leopards off the scoreboard in the first half, highlighted by a penalty save in the 41st minute that gave the Owls momentum.
- Three minutes later, Panaite found the back of the net on an assist from Teo Strand, giving the Owls a 1-0 lead.
- The second half was tightly contested on the defensive end, with light rain adding to the challenge as Temple cruised to victory.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Panaite scored his first goal as an Owl in the first half, with the Toronto native now up to four shots on the season.
- This was Diego Dauzier's second clean sheet of the season, previously achieving the feat against Dayton (Aug. 28).
- Temple tallied six shots on goal to Lafayette's five, with Anthony Perez and Chase Jackson adding to the efforts of Panaite, Votel, Ribert, and O'Sullivan.
- Luka Lukic and Paolo Kampula continued to anchor Temple's backline, each going the distance and helping the Owls keep the Leopards scoreless.
