Greene Dominates with 17 Kills as Temple Tops George Washington in Four Sets

WASHINGTON D.C. – Temple women's volleyball (2-2) defeated George Washington (1-4) 3-1 (21-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-16) Friday evening at the Charles E. Smith Center in the opening match of the George Washington/Georgetown tournament. Christiana Greene recorded a career-high 17 kills while hitting .455, along with five blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (Temple 21, George Washington 25)
- Leia Harper and Katie Hickey opened the set with a kill each, giving the Owls an early 2-1 edge.
- The Revolutionaries responded with a 5-0 run, stretching their lead to 11-5.
- Temple continued to trail midway through the set after a pair of service aces by GW.
- Momentum briefly shifted with solo blocks by Jaya Moore and Katie Hickey, pulling the Owls closer at 23-19.
- After cutting into GW lead the Owl fell 25-21 to conclude the first set.
- Trailing 8-4, Alyssa Finister and Harper led a surge that put Temple up 10-8, highlighted by a sequence of kills and four aces from Finister.
- Christiana Greene tallied her eighth kill of the match to keep the Owls ahead 17-15.
- Late-set kills from Hickey, Hummel, Greene, and Moore helped shift the momentum.
- Temple closed the set strong, scoring the final four points to take it 25-19.
- Temple picked up right where it left off with early kills from Hummel, Hickey, and Harper for a 3-0 start.
- Greene recorded her 10th kill as the Owls went on a 6-1 run to take a 15-8 lead—their largest of the match.
- George Washington fought back with a 7-point rally, but Temple held firm to win the set 25-22.
- Harper reached double-digit kills (11), matching her career high, to spark Temple in the fourth set.
- The Owls kept the pressure on with a dominant run that gave them a 12-5 advantage.
- Greene, the match leader in kills, sealed the win with the final point as Temple closed out a 3-1 victory.
- The Owls out-killed the Revolutionaries 14-9 in the second set with six aces over the two sets, five of them coming from the second set.
- Temple hit .192 to George Washington's .067 in the second set.
- Temple hit .250 in the third set to George Washington's .121.
