Owls Travel to the Big Apple for Dr. Sander Columbia Scorcher

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University's women's indoor track and field team is set to compete this Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Sander Columbia Scorcher. This meet will be held at the Armory Track & Field Center located in New York, N.Y. and is hosted by Columbia University. Competition will start on Friday at 9:30 a.m. and 9:20 a.m. on Saturday. Programs scheduled to compete include Columbia, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Princeton, Brown, Army, Maryland, Oregon, Washington State, UMBC, St. John's (N.Y.), Rutgers-Newark, NJIT, NYU, Johns Hopkins, Fordham, Hofstra, Iona, La Salle, Lehigh, Manhattan, Monmouth, Quinnipiac, Rider, Rowan, Wagner, and many more.Â

Previewing The Owls
- There will be a total of 20 athletes representing Temple this weekend across 14 events.
- Competing in the jumps is Emelie Beckman (pole vault), Aly Doyle (60mH and long jump), Smilla Ranebro (high jump), Kamryn Ohm (pole vault), Shalisha Robertson (triple jump), Inara Shell (long jump and triple jump), and Reece Sullivan (pole vault).
- Robertson will also be competing in the shot put.
- Janae Pettaway and Lila Ziegler will all race in the 60m dash.
- Running in the 200m is Doyle, Pettaway, and Ziegler.
- Briyel Brown, Kei-Mahri Hanna, Grace Hickman, Mariah Jameson, and Chloe Smith will compete in the 400m.
- Representing Temple in the 800m race will be Laila Cottom, Emilie Creighton, and Dagny Shiffler.
- Rian Johnson will be the only Owl running in the mile.
- Amelia Sabatino and Rose Tuomisto will be running in the 5,000m event.Â
- Temple is sending Brown, Hanna, Hickman, Jameson, and Smith to compete in the 4x400m relay.
- For the first time this season, there will be a Distance Medley Relay (DMR), and running in that is Cottom, Creighton, Hanna, Jameson, Johnson, Shiffler, and Tuomisto. The DMR is an event where four runners each cover a different distance of 400m, 800m, 1,200m and 1,600m for a total of 4,000m.Â
