Track & Field Heads to BU and Penn for Competitive Weekend Slate

PHILADELPHIA - Temple University's women's indoor track and field team splits up this weekend as they compete in two meets. The distance athletes will be participating in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by BU from Feb. 13-14. While the rest of the squad will compete in the Widener Indoor Classic located at the Ott Center on Feb. 14. The BU meet will start Friday at 10:30 a.m. and Saturday at 10:42 a.m. The Widener meet will commence at 1:30 p.m. A total of 22 athletes will represent Temple this weekend across 10 different events.

Rose Tuomisto (5,000m) and Laila Cottom (800m) will be the only ones traveling to the David Hemery Valentine Invitational.
Rose set two personal records (1,000m and the mile) last weekend and is looking to build on that at BU.
Laila set a new personal record last weekend at PSU in the 800m with a time of 2:15.62 which earned her fourth place.

Competing in the jumps are Emelie Beckman (pole vault), Kamryn Ohm (pole vault), Reagan Schwartz (triple jump), Deja Scott (triple jump), Inara Shell (triple jump), and Reece Sullivan (pole vault).
Beckman set a personal record last week after clearing a height of 4.10m which ties her for the program record.
Janae Pettaway and Lila Ziegler will compete in the 60m dash.
Zayniah Ali and Aly Doyle will be the only Temple athletes in the 60m hurdles.
Representing the Cherry & White in the 200m is Ali, Doyle, Pettaway, and Ziegler.
Running in the 400m is Kei-Mahri Hanna, Grace Hickman, Mariah Jameson, Chloe Smith, and Dicia Watkins.
Emilie Creighton, Jayla Green, Brooke Shellenberger, and Dagny Shiffler will compete in the 800m.
Reese Morgan will be the only representative for the Owls in the mile.
Temple will have 10 athletes looking to compete in the 4x400m relay, and they are Creighton, Greene, Hanna, Hickman, Jameson, Morgan, Shellenberger, Shiffler, Smith, and Watkins.

The Owls will now shift their attention to the American Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 21. This meet will be held in Birmingham, Ala.
